- Signed receipt from your online ShoWorks registration- make sure all of your projects are listed on the receipt correctly.
- Proof of Grades
- Photo with each Market Animal Entry (see rules for details)
- Completed DNA Packets (Include your "spare" market animal DNA forms if you have)
- Code of Conduct Form - can be downloaded here
2.5 BEEF DIVISION
A. Weight: 1,000 lbs.-open (auction pays only to 1250 lbs.)
B. All Market Beef entries shall be accompanied by a certificate of ownership by exhibitor or bill of sale and brand inspection, if purchased, and a State of California Bill of Sale ship (trip ticket).
C. No horned Market or Breeding Beef is allowed.
D. All Market Beef (steers only no market heifers are allowed) must be ear tagged and weighed at mandatory weigh-in in January preceding the fair to be eligible.
E. Shrink: all Market Beef will be shrunk 3%.
F. Market or Breeding Beef must be manageable and under the control of the exhibitor at all times. Exhibitors may receive assistance from, other current 4-H and/or FFA members who are in good standing from any of the recognized clubs and/or chapters listed in Section 1.1 Livestock Division Subsection A, while on the HFFCF Fairgrounds, except while exhibiting in the show ring or sale ring.
G. All Market Beef must be slick shorn (clipped) including tail head to ¼ inch of growth, no more than seven (7) days prior to weigh-in. Excludes: legs, knees, hocks, and tail switch.
H. Clipping or hair removal of any kind on Market or Breeding Beef is not permitted on the HFFCF Fairgrounds.
I. All Market Beef will be walked from the barns to the show ring on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 7 am to ensure that the HFFCF Livestock and Auction Committee does not have any safety concerns. Exhibitors may receive assistance from, other current 4-H and/or FFA members who are in good standing from any of the recognized clubs and/or chapters listed in Section 1.1 Livestock Division Subsection A, until they enter the demonstration ring.
J. Breeding Beef classes are limited to Cows and Heifers only. No bulls or bull calves are allowed. Breeding Beef are not required to be "slick shorn" and Breeding Beef Classes shall be considered to be a "haired" show.
2.2 SHEEP DIVISION
A. Weight: 100-open (auction pays only to 150 lbs.)
B. Age: all animals must be born after October first of the year preceding the Fair.
C. Shrink: all Sheep will be shrunk 3%
D. Fleece: All Market Sheep must have been slick shorn no more than 7(seven) days prior to weigh in. Clipping/shearing or hair removal of any kind on market sheep is not permitted on the HFFCF Fairgrounds.
E. Tail Docking: To qualify for exhibit, lambs must be docked such that the tail dock is healed and can be lifted from the exterior.
F. Sheep must be shown with the front feet on the ground.
2.4 SWINE DIVISION
A. Weight: 215-270 lbs. (auction pays only to 250 lbs.)
B. Shrink: all Swine will be shrunk 3%.
C. Clipping or hair removal of any kind on Market Swine is not permitted on the HFFCF Fairgrounds
D. All Swine will arrive with HFFCF Fair issued ear tags attached.
2.3 GOATS DIVISION
A. The minimum weight for all Market Goats is 60 lbs. to open, auction pays up to 115 lbs.
B. Goats must have milk teeth. Maximum age 13 months
C. Shrink: All goats will be shrunk 3%.
D. Exhibitors will be allowed to use halters or collars in the show ring.
E. All Goats must have been "slick shorn" with 3/8 inch of hair or less above the hock joint upon arrival at the fair. Clipping/shearing or hair removal of any kind on Market Goats is not permitted on the HFFCF Fairgrounds.
F. Goats can be wethers or un-bred does only, no bucks.
G. Goats may be de-horned or tipped. If tipped, must be tipped down to the diameter of a dime.
2.7 RABBIT DIVISION
A. American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) specifications will be observed. Each entry (market and breeding rabbits) will have a permanent tattoo in the left ear.
B. Market pens limited to two (2) pens (containing three (3) rabbits each of the same breed) per exhibitor. Care, control and possession of the rabbits is required 30 days prior to the fair.
C. In breeding rabbit competition, there will be a limit of two (2) rabbits per class per division (not to exceed twelve (12) breeding rabbits) per exhibitor.
D. Market Rabbits must weigh between 3.5 lbs. and 5.5 lbs. each, and cannot be over 69 days old.
E. Each pen of Market Rabbits will be exhibited and auctioned in its own approved carrying cage.
F. All Market Rabbits must have an HFFCF fair issued numbered ear tag, which will conform to the entry form. A photo must be submitted 30 days prior to the fair with a photo taken of animal and ear tag intact in clear view and submitted to HFFCF entry division.
2.6 POULTRY DIVISION
A. Market birds limited to two (2) pens (containing two (2) birds each) per exhibitor.
B. Market birds must be a Cornish Cross and weigh between 3 and 6 lbs. each.
C. Breeding stock must be purebred.
D. All birds must be free of parasites. Birds showing any sign of parasites will be disqualified and/or asked to leave.
E. Each pen of market birds will be exhibited and auctioned in its own approved carrying cage.
F. Judging shall be by the (HFFCF Show Rules) and Standard of Perfection of the American Poultry Association.
G. All Poultry must have an HFFCF fair issued numbered leg band, which will conform to the entry. A photo must be submitted 30 days prior to the fair with a photo taken of animal and leg band intact in clear view and submitted to HFFCF entry division.
2.9 LIGHT HORSE DIVISION
A. Proper FFA or 4-H show uniforms must be worn for showmanship. Exhibitors may change into black or blue jeans or English breeches for the remainder of the program, a white shirt with a 4-H scarf or FFA scarf/tie. FFA jackets are suggested but not required. Helmets are required by law.
B. Boots must be worn in all classes. No chaps allowed.
C. Horses that appear unmanageable or are seen as unsafe to either rider or other exhibitors will be dismissed from the class.
D. Judges and/or HFFCF Fair Board reserve the right to make judgments or allowances in regard to tack or attire.
E. All exhibitors are to compete in the entire program in order to receive placement or to be eligible for awards. First and second place showmanship winners, other than novice, are required to participate in Round Robin Showmanship on Saturday May 27, 2017, at the HFFCF Fairgrounds.
F. Horse and rider are to be judged together. The Danish system will be used.
G. Stallions, un-weaned foals or mares with foals at the side may not be shown.
H. Horses may not be warmed up or schooled by anyone, but the exhibitor from the time that they arrive at the show at the HFFCF Fairgrounds.
I. Showmanship will be held on Saturday May 27, 2017 during the HFFCF Fair
J. Any exhibitor who enters as a novice will be judged in the appropriate age category after showmanship. Categories are: 4-H JR, 4-H SR, FFA Advanced
